We are hiring for the 2024/2025 season!

Madarao and Tangram are one of the fastest growing international resorts in Japan yet still offers small crowds on countless powder days with an annual snowfall of 10 to 14 metres.

Located in Nagano, with direct access from Tokyo on a 2-hour bullet train, the resort offers 20 chair lifts and easy access (within 40 mins) to neighbouring resorts like Myoko and Nozawa Onsen. Madarao is growing a reputation for openly encouraging inbound tree-skiing within its bowl-like terrain!

Active Life Japan owns and operates 4 hotels, 1-5 minutes walking distance to Madarao Kogen: Active Life Madarao, Hakken by Active Life, Xplore by Active Life and Space by Active Life. As one of Madarao’s largest employers, we offer an immersion into the Japanese winter resort lifestyle and a working-holiday unlike anywhere else.

In addition to wages, accommodation, food, discounted passes and commissions, Active Life also offers a free inter-resort shuttle to nearby resorts, Myoko, Nozawa, Lotte Arai, Kijimadaira and X-Jam until 16/2.

Snowboard  Instructors
Active Life Snow Club (ALSC) is looking for both female and male instructors between approximately mid-December 2024 and mid-February 2025 with plans to partially extend our offering into March. Fluent English is mandatory while the ability to teach in a second language (particularly in Mandarin, Cantonese, Thai, Japanese) is highly beneficial.

For the 2024/2025 season, in addition to our complimentary all-day kids’ lessons and level 1-3 group lessons for guests staying for a minimum of 4 nights in our hotels, ALSC is offering paid private lessons, advanced group lessons and inbound guided tours of Madarao for all Active Life guests, meaning more opportunities for our instructors to earn a high level of pay while honing their teaching experience.

You must possess a minimum level 1 certification within an internationally governed (ISIA) system. We are looking for people who are highly safety conscious, have a sense of humor and possess a high level of emotional intelligence, integrity, and attention to detail.

Complimentary accommodation (shared twin rooms) and food (daily breakfast and dinner), along with a Madarao season pass are included, along with a strong hourly wage (with tiered rates based on lesson types). Must be open to cross-training across other functions and fill in other functions across the hotels as required.
