PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY
I am a recent graduate from the University of Birmingham, obtaining a 2:1 BSc (Hons) degree in Geography. Previously, I was working as Intern with Stantec who are a global firm of consulting engineers, researching their approach to sustainable working, focusing on their Carbon emissions and the use of PAS 2080. I created a report which included research on Stantec’s key clients and competitors, developing an understanding of their approach to sustainability which has contributed to Stantec’s vision to become Carbon Net-Zero by 2030. Also, I led the production of a Power BI app, which is being used to track carbon emissions across the company.
After gaining my A levels, I qualified as a ski instructor (BASI Levels 1 and 2), subsequently working in Italy as an instructor for 5 months, teaching individuals and groups how to ski as well as helping with the administrative and organizational aspects of the ski company I was working for. I also participated in ski tuition for people with special needs such as autism, which I found particularly rewarding. Further to this, I spent some time travelling in Thailand where I gained my scuba diving qualifications.
During the past three years I have balanced part-seasons as a ski instructor with my University commitments. I have also worked extensively in hospitality and as a supply teacher. Having completed my degree, I am currently instructing in Perisher Ski Resort, Australia, where I have been trusted with a variety of client kids and adult lessons at varying abilities and group sizes. During this extremely busy season at Perisher, I have not missed a single day of work, evidenced through my supervisor’s review. I am passionate about ski instructing and believe this passion should be combined with professionalism and reliability.
I am a trustworthy, enthusiastic and motivated person who enjoys meeting people and tackling new challenges. I am IT literate, hard-working and a quick learner. I am also flexible, proactive and able to deal with changing priorities and identify better ways of working. I possess strong written and verbal communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. I can work well independently or as part of a team and I am equally comfortable giving instruction or taking instruction from others. As an instructor, my main aims are to make sure my guests have fun, develop their skills and become more confident on the mountain. I always try to provide a positive environment that enables people to push their abilities whilst staying safe.
