Interests and Hobbies
I really enjoy sailing and over two weeks in July 2021, I earned my RYA Powerboat Level 2, First Aid and Dinghy Instructor qualifications in Rockley Point, Poole. I then worked for Mark Warner as a DI in October-November, taking kids and adult courses as well as helping with boat maintenance. Also worked on hotel transfer, moving all the kit to a different hotel on the island.

I am also a keen skier and did a ski season in Grindelwald, Switzerland with Powder Byrne on the Piste to Profession course from December 2021 to February 2022. In early January I earned my Swiss Snowsports Kids Instructor ski teaching qualification and took part in ski school shadowing. During the February half term peak week I was an assistant instructor for Powder Byrne, taking ski lessons and afternoon kids club sessions as well as babysitting each evening.

In 2018 I took part in the Independent Schools Ski Championships at Les Deux Alpes with the Charterhouse A-team, where we made it to the semi-finals of the parallel slalom. I also enjoy football and shooting and I played for many years in the Surrey League for a local football team. For shooting, I have trialled for the UK Cadet Rifle Team at Bisley.

I have always been very interested in Art and Design. My final A-level design piece was a lounge chair for relaxation and privacy, for which I completed a scale model and an A2 site drawing. For my IGCSE Design and Technology coursework, I made a children’s desk lamp, under the influence of the streamline design movement. Other school projects include an LED desk lamp, a speaker and a wooden box with different joining techniques.

I was a Royal Marine Cadet in the CCF at Charterhouse and have been on several training exercises at Pirbright Army Barracks. I have also been to the Commando Training Centre Royal Marines (CTCRM) at Lympstone twice with the rest of the Marines Cadets Detachment at Charterhouse to take part in the Sir Steuart R. Pringle Competition for Marines Cadets around the country. I have completed my Silver DofE as well.
I was Involved in the Artifex Society at Charterhouse, where we organised all of the events at an annual arts festival for the whole school to celebrate the end of the academic year. Summer 2019, I organised a school-wide inter-house graffiti art competition to come up with the most innovative artwork, which was a very popular event. Involved in the Charterhouse Sustainability Committee, which gave suggestions to the headmaster as to how the school can be more eco- friendly and promotes sustainable actions at school and in the local area. With the Sustainability Committee, I helped organise the Charterhouse Climate Conference in June 2020, a pupil-led week of lectures delivered by high-profile speakers. There were nearly 3000 participants from schools globally.

I completed my EPQ with A* grade, for which I redeveloped council housing in Barnes, London to make it more eco-friendly and attractive, with more leisure spaces for all and onsite amenities. Attended a two-week architecture Summer programme with the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (July 2020), which helped me with my portfolio.

I am currently taking a break between school and university education to work and travel, gaining valuable experience and developing transferrable skills. I was enrolled in Architecture at the University of Bath (starting September 2022) but I left that course. I then went backpacking in India and Nepal Jan-March 2023 and upon return, teaching RYA sailing courses to people of all ages at the Lensbury Resort, London for the rest of the Summer as well as working as a receptionist at the resort. I am also working towards RYA Day Skipper qualification in July 2023, sailing yachts.

Two-week camping expedition to Loch Tay, Scotland (August 2021), hiking and canoeing as well. Developing skills in navigation and teamwork. Then a 5-day tall ship sailing trip from London to Portsmouth with the Jubilee Sailing Trust which I really enjoyed. Also Ray Mears bushcraft course in Sept 2021, in which I learned about the importance of water sanitation and hygiene in the wild.

2 March-April 17 2022: Volunteering with Raleigh International in Nepal, working closely with the locals in an impoverished community with limited water supplies. We built sustainable water facilities including latrines and trenches for water pipes. Also trekking from Pokhara to Gorkha (19 days) with group, staying in tents and in local schools in rural villages and cooking for ourselves. Afterwards I completed the Everest Base Camp trek via Cho La pass (5420m) – a 16 day trek. Also climbed Island Peak (6160m) with mountaineering training, using crampons and jumar.

May-August 2022: Teaching and leading watersports sessions such as sailing, kayaking, paddleboarding and raft building at Queen Mary SC and Thames Young Mariners to large school groups which was a very fulfilling and enjoyable experience.
